COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Guidance

St Giles church is now open for weddings and funerals.
We are currently finalising plans to reopen for prayer.
Due to the restrictions in place around social distancing and singing,
and because many people will still not feel that it is safe to return,
we believe it is not yet time to open for worship services.

For the moment, therefore, there will be no gathered worship services at St Giles Church.

Please visit our weddings page for the latest information about weddings.
The government have indicated that weddings can take place from 4th July onwards.

In the meantime:-

  1. For now, we’re going to continue to broadcast and livestream our Sunday worship services from our home to your home.

  2. We have a selection of opportunities for fun, fellowship and social gatherings virtually and over zoom. Please check out our What’s On  page for details. We’re going to be in this for some time to come so we especially want to reach out to those who are alone so that they feel they are part of our fellowship.

  3. We are actively using this season to deepen our prayer life and to reach out through offering OnLine Alpha. Check out the Going Deeper section of the website and the Alpha page for more information.

We are reviewing the recent guidance from the government and Church of England about the possible opening our building and will update this page when risks have been fully assessed and it is deemed safe and appropriate to do so.

The government advice is to Stay Alert, Control the Virus and Save Lives.

It is essential that we follow this advice:

  • Stay at home as much as possible
  • Work from home if you can
  • Limit contact with other people
  • Keep your distance if you go out (2 metres apart where possible)
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Do not leave home if you or anyone in your household has symptoms

Please do not leave home if you or somone you live with has any of the following:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste

Check the NHS website if you have symptoms

And finally…the words of this song seem apt:

God, I look to You
I won't be overwhelmed
Give me vision to see things like You do
God I look to You
You're where my help comes from
Give me wisdom, You know just what to do

God I Look To You (Lyric Video)
